Shafqat Amanat Ali (Urdu: شفقت امانت علی) (born in 1965)is the son of Ustad Amanat Ali Khan, making him part of the 9 generation old Patiala Gharana. He has been a student of Pakistani classical music since age four, his grandmother being his first teacher. His main influences in music come from his father and his uncle Ustad Fateh Ali Khan sahab as well as Roshanara Begum, to name a few. He is younger brother of late singer Asad Amanat Ali Khan. He is well educated and got his bachelors degree from Government College,Lahore (now GC University) in 1988.He was role of honour from the Music Society of Government College,Lahore.

Shafqat Amanat Ali was also the lead vocalist of a Pakistani pop band known as Fuzon. He belongs to the Patiala gharana of classical music. The gharana is famous for its concentration on intricate taan-patterns and sargams. With his family, he has been part of the Pakistani classical musical tradition for eight generations now. Introduction

Shafqat Amanat Ali (Urdu: شفقت امانت علی) is a Pakistani classical singer belonging to Patiala Gharana. He was also the lead vocalist of the popular Pakistani pop band “Fuzön”.
He was awarded the President’s Pride of Performance award on August 14, 2007.
Shafqat Amanat Ali was born in Lahore to Ustad Amanat Ali Khan, making him the 7th generation of Patiala Gharana.
He received his bachelors degree from Government College University, Lahore (now known as GC University). He received the role of honor from the Music Society of Government College University, Lahore.

Career

Shafqat Amanat Ali is highly respected among music circles due to his classically trained voice and his command over contemporary music. Ankhon Ke Saager, Khamaj, Akhiyan and Neend Na Aye are some of his most popular works. He recently sang the song Phir Wohi Raastey for a pakistani film named Ramchand Pakistani. While he is one of the best current singers in Pakistan, Shafqat has earned a lot of admiration in India as well.He sang Mitwa for the Indian film Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna that topped all charts for weeks. He was also the voice behind the critically acclaimed song Yeh Hausla in the Bollywood film Dor. He also sang background for the films Hello, Mumbai Cuttings and Aashayen.After leaving the band Fuzon in 2006, Shafqat is concentrating on his solo career. Former band members Imu and Shallum have accused him of many charges. One of the allegations was that he wanted to take complete control of financial affairs of the band and he went on doing solo performances in India without asking Imu and Shallum.Based on Folk and sufi works the album Tabeer was commissioned and released by Music Today the world over in mid September 2008. However, the rating of this album remained average.The album was released by Fire records in Pakistan September 2008 as their Mega Eid release. The entire album has been recorded, mixed and mastered in Pakistan by Shani (Zeeshan) at “Couple of good studios”. All songs except Naina and Tu hi tu hai have been composed by Shafqat.The first video of the premier song of the album “Kherhyan De Naal” is now being aired on all channels in India and Pakistan. He has fondly been nick-named the Rock star Ustad by Saleem Merchant of the Saleem- Suleman duo. In the Tum Mile a bollywood movie starring Emraan Hashmi and Soha Ali Khan Shafqat have sung a Rock version of Tum Mile.
